About

Although I’ve only been teaching yoga since September 2007, I’ve been practicing yoga and meditation for almost forty years. Over those years, I have also practiced tai chi, chi gong and many different meditation and body wisdom disciplines. I completed a 200 hr. yoga teacher training and also hold a certificate in teaching yoga to seniors from the Duke University Centerfor Integrative Medicine. I recently finished an 18-month program combining mindfulness meditation and yoga teaching at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

I’ve been a radio and television engineer, a massage therapist, an organizational development consultant, and a human resource executive, all the while exploring the edges of the human potential movement in various training programs and several 12-Step recovery programs.

With my friend and fellow yoga teacher, Robin Carnes, I co-authored Sacred Circles: A Guide to Creating Your Own Women’s Spirituality Group, HarperSanFrancisco, 1998.

My style of yoga is eclectic, drawing on mindfulness practices, vinyasa flow, Iyengar and Kripalu yoga. My teaching emphasizes coordination of movement and breath while maintaining proper alignment to promote safety. In cultivating body awareness, we can learn a great deal about ourselves, and with this learning, comes acceptance of ones’ limitations, and appreciation of ones’ gifts. My classes are fun, energetic and relaxing and my students range in age from 4 to 87.
